I wish there were some way to highlight all of the same number, like in other digital sudoku games I've played...

I like it that this frontend is like a puzzle on paper. You have to use your pencil to make your notes yourself.... but maybe there is a way to introduce different colours to choose from manually? Like in Hanjie or Nurikabe (did I really mention that kind of forgotten puzzle type again...?)

Interesting. No one has ever asked for colours when solving sudoku on puzzlemix before. You can place pencilmarks, of course, and that usually suffices so far as I know.

What might be helpful - in these big puzzles - is to be able to highlight all of a particular value, however. That's presumably what you would want the colours for anyway?

[Edited to add:] And now I see that's what the first commenter asked for too. :) So yes, I agree that would be useful.

Well anyway, in lieu of that - does anyone have some tips for how to solve this one? There are so many numbers I can't keep track of them all.

Yes gareth, my post was an answer to the previous post here. I think it would be useful to be able to highlight all of a particular value, too. But it should be considered having aid. That's why I suggested colours - then I wouldn't consider it aid. At Hanjie puzzles, sometimes I miss that completed numbers are not highlighted automatically (e.g. there's a 7 in a row and after you put 7 black squares next to each other the seven changes colour). If you want to keep track, you can click it yourself to change colour. That's what I meant: The puzzle engines here are like solving a puzzle on paper with a pen.

@purrs: sorry, I can't help here....

Key

  • A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
  • Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
  • If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
  • Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
