Hi JoergWausW , Sorry about that. The server gets checked every 5 minutes and I've checked the logs and the server had no downtime in the past 24 hours according to those checks - i.e. web pages could be fetched in less than 2 seconds from the monitoring sites in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Singapore, Japan and Australia - so you must have been very unlucky. I can manually enter your time if you remember what it was.
I've changed the monitoring to every minute instead of every 5 minutes, so that should detect any short outages too. For a puzzle a minute is a long wait, so perhaps I should have had it monitoring that frequently previously anyway.

Hi gareth, sorry, but I don't know what time it was (you argued well why the puzzles don't show the time).
I guess after two minutes I stopped trying.
And it doesn't have to be your server... some DNS server might be enough...
Do those monitoring sites check all at the same time? Or do they rotate? (Every 10 seconds another one... same amount of pings but more coverage... less of a problem that my puzzle results get stuck because your server is occupied serving the monitoring sites... ;-) )
But it wasn't my day today anyway. Too many stupid mistakes...
Good question. I guess they all poll at their own times, rather than simultaneously, since it seems more work to synchronise them than not - but perhaps they do synchronise so the international data points can be directly compared like-for-like. I use updown.io.

Key
A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
(other web pages worked).
