Glad to hear it - I wasn't so wrong after all.
But what's your problem with the Skyscrapers?

Thanks for suggesting I should try the Nurikabe JoergWausW!
I just keep getting them wrong. Partly because I have a problem looking up/down and sideways all at once and nearly always end up with one wrong produced by umpteen mistakes:)

I am terrible at skyscraper puzzles, and I make them! :) I sympathise with Elisabeth entirely. I think the secret, like kakuro, is to become much more familiar with the patterns that result from each clue value for each size of puzzle.

Sorry for kidnapping topics - again. At skyscrapers I start with the highest number n (if there is a clue "1" it's fixed) and put the pencil numbers in. Then I work down what has to be fixed with this number. Then I continue with n-1 and do the same, then n-2 and so on. When I get to 4 or 3 I just pencil everything in and/or start excluding. Most of the time it's pretty obvious by then. Doesn't always work...

Thank you Gareth!!
I try to do the same as you suggest, JoergWausW but it doesn't become obvious at all!! I try to make it correct for one row/column only to discover it is now incorrect for another. I usually can manage the small ones but don't even try those for 7x7 or more:)

Elisabeth, I don't know whether you understood my idea correctly. So I created a little walkthrough in a new discussion forum thread:

Key
A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
