Another one out of the wayyyyyy old vault. At least 10 years, I'm thinking.
Anyway, for some reason this one always gets me confused in the midgame.

I usually can figure these out, but I am really stuck on this one without guessing. I can get the bottom 10 rows, plus a few other towers, but then I am stuck. Any suggestions on what I am missing?

Linny, this one is really tricky.
I get to that same point as you and then I make a guess. Row 13 from the bottom is 2-1-2-1. As you work with the bottom rows, you eventually get yourself a 2 on that row. This is where I got stuck, so I'm guessing it's where you're stuck too.
Anyway, there's room to the left for a 2 and 1, so either that 2 on Row 13 is the first 2 or the second 2. At this point, I assumed it was the first 2 to see where that would take me. Try that.
Also, the 4-2-7 row two up from that is really tricksy. Methodically mark off the ones you've cleared vertically, because there's a trap there I keep falling into.

Yes, I can get it if I guess on one row. Row 11 from bottom - 1 3 1 2 - I have 3 singles. I guessed that the last single was 2, which it was. But I want to do it without guessing!!

A fun feature would be if we could send a picture in the comments of where we're stuck!

I was stuck too. Same as rhodri2112, I had to use trial and error on row 13 to progress further.

I too was stuck. However.....
On row 12 from the bottom, the 7 cannot begin on the far left because if it did the first 3554 columns would be together there and that just doesn't work. Not a very lucid description, I know, but try it and you'll see what I mean.
Then you'll see that the 7 can't begin in the second square of that line either for the same reason. Nor the 3rd square for the same reason. Then .....wheeeee

Oh yes - I remember this one! Took ages to find the answer and of course once you had it was obvious. Trouble is - I've forgotten it! Thanks bergenbest. Cheers
But this doesn't work for the two rows above, because of the 2 there. So you have at least the light red 2x2 square in row 19/20 for sure. The single red one in row 20 can be concluded, because row 20 starts with a 1. This much about the colour red.
In row 19 the dark green square continue the 7. Then the right white square in row 18 (column 13) makes a 2 go down, and then you have 4 seperate sections in row 20. This is why the left black square has to be the 1.
After that it seems to fall all into place.

I know Gareth has always said that his Hanjie's can be solved 1 row at a time.
With this puzzle, we can get to the point depicted in JoergWausW's screen shot fairly easily. From here the key is the 13th row from the bottom, or the 3rd row above the fully completed section.
This row has clued as: 2-1-2-1 The first 8 squares at this point are: ????WBBW
We know that the BB is either the first 2 or the second one. This means there are 2 possible arrangements for the first 8 squares:
BBWBWBBW WWWWWBBW
This shows that the 3rd square must be white. From there the 3rd column's clues tell us that the 2 squares below that must also be white. That in turn pushes the leading 7 on the 12th row (from the bottom) 3 spaces to the right.
After that, as JoergWausW put it, everything "seems to fall all into place."

Key
A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.

Stuck
As bergensbest noted, the most obvious way to proceed seems to be the 7 in row 19 (from the top).
If the 7 started at the very left, then you'd get all the dark yellow squares:
Continue
But this doesn't work for the two rows above, because of the 2 there. So you have at least the light red 2x2 square in row 19/20 for sure. The single red one in row 20 can be concluded, because row 20 starts with a 1. This much about the colour red.
