Until a few days ago I had not noticed the following question: we completed a puzzle but time is running out to give the "Check solution"... Perhaps... these 3 seconds... Penelope...

Are you saying that not clicking on "check" quickly enough adds time on? I didn't know that.

Yes, Penelope, that happens to me. I have verified it. Please, do the test you also.

Your time is only saved when you decide you have completed the puzzle and click 'Check'.

@gareth "Your time is only saved when you decide you have completed the puzzle and click 'Check'."

Not always true. I once lost internet connection while solving the puzzle. When I clicked "Check", nothing happened. Those 2 minutes it took me to get the connection back, were on the clock....

I meant that your time is not saved before you press Check, as per the discussion above. The actual time saved is the time the player connects to the server, so if you have no internet connection you won't be able to log your completion until you regain it. The original reason for this was so that you can't falsify the completion time, although in practice this has very rarely proved to be a problem.

Thanks for clarifying that, Gareth. I'll be a bit quicker to press check now.

Key

  • A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
  • Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
  • If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
  • Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
