I did think of that, but I thought that would have been a bit harsh! :) So I went for a message in the givens. The puzzle itself is just an ordinary Sudoku.

I was looking for a problem (as littlefish), and so when i made a mistake, assumed it was insoluble - "FOOL"! Started again and completed quite quickly taking a bit more care.
