Penelope Daily subscriber Rated puzzle: Easy Completion time: 32:37 Used 'check puzzle' when incorrect
The puzzle was quite easy. It sounds as if I'm making feeble excuses but I'm having problems doing the puzzles on my tablet . When I try to put in a 4 or 7 for example it goes to "check" or "reset" and I don't know how to stop this happening.

Hi Penelope, I'm sorry you're having trouble. I can see you're on a Nexus 7 Android tablet, and I think (although I am not completely certain) that you are using Google Chrome. Nothing in the PuzzleMix code has changed for a while, so is this a recent problem or has it been happening for a while?
I have just tested with Google Chrome on a Nexus 7 tablet here and I can't spot any problems, other than the existing (annoying!) issue with some of the grid lines vanishing (which is quite simply a rendering bug in Chrome on Android on standard-resolution screens - the best I can do for that issue is try and detect the browser and swap in thicker lines, but when I tried this it caused more problems than it fixed).
Anyway, is this button selection issue still happening? It sounds like the browser somehow got the 'focus' jammed on the wrong elements. Did it happen again when you tried another puzzle? Did you try quitting and reloading the browser in case it had got 'upset' in some way?

Thanks for your reply Gareth. This is a new problem, since a recent update, and happens with other sites as well. I ' ve just ordered a Nexus 9 so I hope that solves the problem!

I tried changing the browser but it didn't help. The problem seems to be that the screen is too sensitive and reacts if you just hover over a button without touching it. It also keeps freezing and this happens on Facebook, yahoo etc as well. Anyway I'm hoping my new tablet will be much better behaved!

Hi Penelope,
I tried upgrading my Nexus 7 to the latest Android (5.0.2, I think), and the latest Chrome too, and the site does work - so I think unfortunately it must be your particular tablet as you say. If you search online it does seem to be a relatively common fault with the Nexus 7 (e.g. here - that's quite an interesting page to read anyway, since it seems to talk about the same problems you've had, especially further down).
I do have one other thought - you're not using an unofficial mains charger and using it while its plugged in? If you use a touch device with a non-regulated power supply you often get all kinds of touch screen problems. If you only use it while its plugged in, you might try changing the charger first instead. But otherwise it sounds like you have a faulty device and it would need to be sent for repair.

More than one solution.

Just one solution, ericjohnson327 - don't forget that no X and no V means two cells do NOT sum to either 10 or 5.

Key
A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
