If there's no X or V then squares do not sum to either 10 or 5. This means there is only one solution.

I had a walkthrough where I didn't think I made a mistake and ended up pressing the "check"-button. But my solution was wrong. I checked everything (blocks, rows, colums... X and V last) and finally found a 2 and a 3 next to each other with no V between them. What I didn't get: these two numbers (2 and 3) were the last ones I put in. That means, the main mistake must have happened way earlier. But to look for it while backtracking - it is impossible if you don't know what is right. So I cleared everything and started over. My time was 4:44 still (not bad for filling everything out twice). What my mistake was? I wish I knew. Ctrl-Z doesn't work after completion. It's the second time in this week that I miss that feature. When I don't care whether my name appears in the left or the right column in the statistics page I would hit "show wrong" and go back with Ctrl+Z until the last wrong number disappears... in this case usually I end up with the true number missing in the set of possibilities... (mostly because by filling everything up in the beginning I missed this one and didn't notice...) but again: usually I try to solve it without "Show wrong" in the first try. And I don't consider the use of "Check" as "minor assistance"(puts a * next to the time), because I still have to find the mistake first what is taking plenty of time. Not comparable with a highlighting-assistance... But next to these minor issues that bug me, you have a great game engine here!

Hiya JoergWausW, First up, you need only press Z (or X) - there's no need to press CTRL too. Just to make it a little easier! You can also hold the key down and it will keep winding back really quickly (or as fast as your browser can cope), then hold down X to wind forward.
Once you submit more than once with an error then you go into the right-hand column; a single error keeps you on the left, but flags your result as you say. This is because you've had a slight advantage over others, since you made a mistake but were allowed a chance to correct your error - in theory you could use this to solve faster and let the player do the error checking that would slow you down if you did it yourself. (Of course, with an unlimited number of tests you can just keep entering values, checking and correcting until you find the right value for each cell, which is why 2+ 'wrongs' get you into the right-hand column).
I've thought about allowing solve playback after completion, but only as an option to do so for any other player's solve (if they allowed it - it would be a privacy option you could disable), which is a bit more complex and so I've never quite implemented it. There's no intrinsic reason why you can't immediately review your own solve - no one has ever asked for that before, and I've never considered having it as a feature. I think probably it would be best to implement the general playback option, if I'm going to do it.

Hi Gareth,
thanky you for your reply. I think I remember that only Z works, but since I press Ctrl with almost every other appication... btw: now I know why there won't ever be a 36x36-sudoku online here... the z wouldn't work (next to screen size issues).
About the advantage you are right if someone uses the check button while incomplete (because you can avoid to go on with a wrong number). I only use it after filling everything up (ok, sometimes I just missed a number... I would say there is no real advantage if you use the check wrong when you have only 3 empty cells left, because of the uniqueness of the solution). Then for most puzzles it is no advantage if you have to find the mistake - usually I have to start over, unless only 2 or 3 numbers are wrong. And the undo time adds up as well (I don't use reset because I don't want to fill up the possible options again...) as the "find the error"-time.

Key
A yellow/light blue highlight in the time distribution charts highlights your time, where relevant.
Rating scores out of 10.0 show the average difficulty rating chosen by users, where 1.0 is "Easy" and 10.0 is "Hard".
If a puzzle is opened more than once, including by loading from a saved position, then this is potentially a significant aid so it is listed as being completed with 'multiple sessions' for the purpose of the best time/average rating displays above.
Minor aid is defined as no more than one use of 'Check solution' when incomplete and/or no more than one use of 'Check solution' when wrong; and/or using highlighting aids (show repeated digits, show broken inequalities and show valid/invalid placements [slitherlink] only). Major aid is any and all other use of the solving aids except for 'show wrong'.
